A BRIEF NARRATION OF KALA (TIME) IN INDIAN PHILOSOPHICAL CONTEXT
Abstract
Man’s life, youth, wealth and vanity flows away in the stream of time. There is a proverb “Time and tide wait for none”. The proverb highlights the truth of life. The proverbs related to time not only arouse enthusiasm and give inspiration to man, but they also impart a new life to him. Time is life and proper use of it can take man to a great height. On the other hand, negligence of time throws man into the sea of ignorance. So I proceed with the discussion on the concept of time in this essay. My sole purpose is to put forth in this essay briefly the views of ancient Indian philosophers and litterateurs regarding time. Here I will throw lightspecially on the discussions of the concept of time mentioned in Indian philosophy, Buddhism,Jainism, Nyay darsan,Vaisheshikdarsan,sankhya darsan,Charbak darsan, epics, ancient plays, Bhagwadgita, Vedas and Upanisads.
