TRAGIC PLIGHTS OF MIGRANT PEOPLE DURING GREAT DEPRESSION IN JOHN STEINBECK’S THE GRAPES OF WRATH
Abstract
In the present world, migration is a common thing. All living things are migrating towards their comfortable zone. But particularly, the mass migration of the people move towards other countries, states, districts for jobs, security purpose, and higher studies and to enhance the standard of living. People need the basic things like food, dress and shelter but the native people were forced to move out of the town due to the depression. The present study focuses about the migrants and their struggles during the great depression in the novel The Grapes of Wrath. The author reflected the realistic conditions of the migrants and their hurdles and tragedies they faced in California.
