Abstract

      Dr. B.R.Ambedkar was born on 14th April in 1891 in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, India. Also known as Babasaheb Ambedkar, he was an Indian philosopher, jurist, economist, politician, journalist and a social reformer. Dr. Ambedkar who is well known not only to India but to the world is considered to be the architect of modern India.

      Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy as a social reformer has a deep impact on modern India. Even today, his social reformative thoughts are respected throughout the political spectrum. Dr. Ambedkar played a vital role in empowerment of Indian women. As a labour minister he worked for the welfare of labour to earn them their rights and entitlements. Through his writings as a journalist, he presented the social, economical, political, educational problems of dalits to the society. He deeply criticized the supremacy of Brahmins and introduced the principles of equality and teachings of Lord Buddha through his writings. He paved the way for upliftment of dalits through educational institutions.

      The present paper aim is to highlight the reformative ideology, work and philosophy of Bharatratna Dr. B.R.Ambedkar in all fields.
